Japanese Primeminster Shinzo Aabe will be the Chief guest or state guest of honor this year. It will be the first time when a Japanese PM will be attending Indian Republic day chief guest.
Last year, the king of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck attended the republic day 2013 as Chief guest.
